The Seatoun Skirt is a classic A-line skirt based on original garments and patterns from between 1915-1918.
Fun details and thoughtful construction means it works equally well for historical costuming, historybounding, and modern wear.
View A is cut on the fold with no center front or back seams, and has triangular bucket pockets placed on the front of the skirt.
View B has center front and back seams, and has shield-shaped bucket pockets placed on the side seams over the hips.
Both views are supported by a boned internal waistband, and have a smooth front, and gathers at the back waist to create additional fullness. The side seams open at the wearer’s left side seam with a placket fastened with snap fasteners.
The skirt is designed to end at high ankle 3-6’’/7-15cm from the ground, and is finished with a faced hem
The skirt can also be worn with a matching blouse, such as the Selina Blouse, to make a dress in two parts, or attached to a blouse pattern to make a dress.
The Seatoun Skirt can be worn over a 1910s corset, such as the Rilla Corset, or without a corset as a modern garment.
Recommended Fabrics:
Midweight fabrics in cotton, linen, silk and wool including: drill, corduroy, poplin, silk noil, taffeta, corded silks, cotton and wool gabardine, and serge. This pattern works best in stable fabrics with a bit of body.
The interior belt should be made from a midweight, very tightly woven, cotton fabric, such as poplin or shirting.
Taylor-Rose is wearing View A in Size 46. She is 5'6.5''/169cm. Her Seatoun is made in light-midweight (appx 180gsm) lilac purple silk noil. She wears her skirt with a Selina Blouse.
Lindsey is wearing View B in Size 36. She is 5'8''/172cm. Her Seatoun Skirt is made in checked wool twill.
Both models are wearing their Seatoun Skirts over Rilla Corsets.
